If you are looking for a flexible, part-time job that you can do from home, then look no further.  VIPKid offers an exciting work from home opportunity to teach English online to Chinese students.  Get paid for doing something that you love!

WHAT IS VIPKid?

VIPKid is an online English education platform currently with 700,000 K-12 Chinese students and 100,000 teachers. VIPKid has created an unique curriculum for teachers to deliver English classes in an online environment from the comfort of their own home.  Most of their teachers are based out of Canada and the US, and the classes are 1:1.

Forbes rated them as #1 out of their top 100 remote companies in 2018 to work for from home. They continue to rank in the top 3 for 2019 and 2020.

What are the requirements for applying to VIPKid?

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree (in any field), have one year of teaching experience, and must be eligible to teach in the US or Canada.

In order to pass the first part of the application process, you must mention your experience with children.  This can be in the form of teaching, substituting, tutoring, mentoring, homeschooling, coaching, childcare, volunteering at church, etc.)

What is it like teaching for VIPKid?

Students will learn the material independently and then have 30-minute lessons with the teacher one on one.  They also receive virtual homework and practice games on what they have learned.

Have you ever been on a Skype call or have you Face-timed a friend?  Teaching online with VIPKid uses a platform similar to this which includes interactive Powerpoint presentations for lesson plans.

One of the many benefits of working for VIPKid is that the lesson plans are already created by them so the teachers can focus on teaching!  That means, you get to enjoy teaching your students, but don’t have to worry about the lesson planning, grading or prep work!  VIPKid also has a large and strong support community that can help you prepare for your interview and classes, and that you can share teaching experiences with.

Here is a video of a stay-at-home Mom explaining what it is like to work for VIPKid:

VIPKid teachers make anywhere from $18-24/hour.  VIPKid also offers incentives which include cash, prizes, and even trips to Beijing!  Not only do you have the ability to work remotely from anywhere, but you are helping thousands of adorable Chinese children learn English.

How do I apply?

There is a process that the applicants must go through in order to start working:

  • Fill out basic info (5min)
  • 10 min Teaching Sample – (Virtual interview or recorded)
  • Intro to Teaching (2-3 hr)
