If you are looking for an online job that is flexible, pays well, and that you can enjoy, then teaching for Outschool may be the solution for you. Outschool is an online teaching platform for students ages 3-18. Many of the students that take the courses are homeschooled, but not all of them.
The instructor will teach a class on their online platform. The classes are live and recorded, and students are able to access their own camera (if they want!) and microphone so they can communicate with the teacher and other students as if it were a real classroom. If you miss a class, you can also access the recorded lesson at your leisure.
This job is perfect for stay-at-home parents, those that are retired, travelers who want a remote position, as well as anyone with a hobby that they have excelled at and can teach to others.
What are the requirements to be an Outschool teacher?
Outschool teachers do not need to have formal teaching credentials. In order to become a teacher, they do require a criminal background check. Teachers must also be residents of the US or Canada.
What is the pay and process for teaching classes with Outschool?
A teacher can list classes on the platform with a description and a short video trailer of the class, as well as the times available and schedule. The teacher also has the opportunity to choose the price they charge per student, as well as the number of students that they want in each class.
Outschool does take a 30% service fee from enrollments, but if you are teaching a class with 8 students at $75/student, you can still earn a decent amount of money from teaching. The amount you get paid is dependent on what you charge and how many students you teach per class.
Teachers will receive payment through Paypal after the class has begun.
Outschool teachers can offer one time classes, as well as an ongoing class, a class that runs for a semester, or even a class that only runs for a few weeks. Classes can be during the week, weekends, morning, afternoon, evening, and even on summer, winter, and spring breaks.
For example, my son has taken a hour class one time. He has also taken a weekly class that lasted six weeks for one hour a week. My son loves taking classes at Outschool! His favorite classes are the the ones that involve hands-on learning such as building circuits, etc.
